Prevention of traffic accidents for children

The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency will establish and implement measures to strengthen children’s traffic safety to prevent children’s traffic accidents and ensure school zone safety in March.

The main implementations include strengthening safety activities and crackdowns on school roads and school zones, and children’s traffic safety education and promotion activities.

Transportation and local patrol cars will be moved to and placed in 110 elementary school school zones during school and school hours to conduct safety activities. In addition, police motorcycles such as violation of pedestrian protection obligations, signal violations, and restrictions on truck traffic will be deployed to intensively crack down on violations of important laws and regulations.

The police will also strengthen crackdown activities on the recent death of a child on a children’s commuting bus in other regions and major violations of laws and regulations on the children’s commuting bus. The contents of the crackdown include unreported operation of school buses, violation of the obligation to board fellow passengers, and violation of special protection of school buses.

In addition, the police will overcome the difficulties of face-to-face education caused by COVID-19, provide customized traffic safety education for children using broadcasting equipment in schools, and promote traffic safety through non-contact methods such as small campaigns, SNS and home correspondence.

The inspection will be carried out until the 31st of next month, and it plans to create a children’s traffic safety environment by moving and removing facilities that interfere with children’s walking in school zones and school roads.

The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency said it will continue to promote systematic and comprehensive measures to prevent traffic accidents for children to create a child-centered traffic culture atmosphere.
