Seoul National University signs a business agreement with the Seoul headquarters of the Korea Transportation Safety Authority to reduce traffic accidents in Seoul

The Department of Transportation Engineering at Seoul National University (President Seo Soon-tak) signed a business agreement with the Seoul headquarters of the Korea Transportation Safety Authority on the 20th to reduce traffic accidents in Seoul.

On this day, the two organizations decided to cooperate with each other in △ Academic exchange to improve traffic safety in Seoul △ Promotion of traffic safety cooperation projects to improve traffic safety culture and facilities in Seoul.

This business agreement was promoted to improve traffic safety for increasing traffic safety vulnerability factors such as the elderly, motorcycles, and PM (personal means of transportation) following the increase of the elderly population in Seoul, expansion of non-face-to-face transactions, and the introduction of new mobility.

The two organizations will actively pursue research and development of more scientific traffic safety measures and improvement pilot projects that apply the latest techniques such as big data and AI (Artificial Intelligence) analysis in Dongdaemun-gu, the university’s location.

Lee Seung-jae, head of the Department of Transportation Engineering, said, “Based on the expertise of the university, we will take the lead in creating a safe transportation environment in Seoul and improving advanced transportation culture.”

Bae Joong-chul, head of the Seoul headquarters of the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, said, “We will contribute to creating safer transportation in Seoul by combining the execution power of the corporation, public-private cooperation networks, and university expertise and ideas.”
